I write this while sitting at the Mantra Surf Club in Mukli (Karnataka State) during the 6-day break between the Kitply Cup in Bangladesh and the Asia Cup in Pakistan. Residing in fairly rural India has afforded me the time and mental space to reflect on the previous tournament and to plan for the upcoming Asia cup.

There are a few things that I will become very familiar with over the next 22 months touring with Team India. One is eating vegetarian curry, dal and roti, and another is having conversations with Gary Kirsten. And there are many more things that will become familiar as we go about the business of preparing the team for 25 more ODI’s and nine Test matches before the end of 2008. The intention is that winning games will be one of them – actually, we intend to make winning a habit.

I've been at home in Cape Town, watching the IPL from a distance, and planning various strategies for my work with the Indian team over the next two years. It's been a great time to reflect, as I navigate the shift from the past six years of working with a variety of companies and individuals as an external Executive coach in South Africa, to now working as an internal coach, full-time within one organisation - in India.
